Here at Glorious Difference headquarters we love festivals, so we’ve out together a list of five awesome Aussie festivals to add to your calendar, or bucket list. There’s nothing like chilling out with friends while appreciating an artist do their thing. It brings you right back to the moment – reminds you of a simpler life and what matters most. Here in Australia we love an excuse to celebrate and have fun!

The Byron Bay Bluesfest

A staple Aussie music festival full of heart and soul in the hippie paradise that is Byron Bay. Amazing artists are brought over each year for the Easter long festival, with acts like Ben Harper, Angus & Julia Stone and John Mayer. Stay in town or camp at the event with the hardcore fans. There’s action everywhere when Bluesfest is on!

Location: Byron Bay, NSW.

Dates: Easter long weekend.


The Sydney Festival

Five Awesome Aussie Festivals - Sydney Festival

Every January Sydney comes alive with an eclectic showcase of the arts. From burlesque circus to Indigenous performance and art, there’s something for everyone. Events take place all over Sydney with some free to everyone and while others sell out quickly. It’s a great time to head into town and absorb the electric atmosphere.

Dark Mofo

Five Awesome Aussie Festivals - Dark Mofo

A celebration of the dark with large-scale public art, music, food, film and light displays set in atmospheric Tasmania. From breath taking art displays to nude swimming, let your imagination run wild at this very different event.

Location: Hobart, Tasmania.

Dates: 8-21, June.


Vivid Sydney

Five Awesome Aussie Festivals - Vivid Sydney

A free, 23 days festival of light, music and ideas. The city becomes a wonderland of light, colour and sound. Full of imagination and surprise the festival is a major attraction for locals and tourists. There’s something magic about seeing the city glowing in light and colour.

Location: Sydney.

Dates: May/June.

A celebration of human spirit inspired by an Indian tradition of throwing coloured power in the air. Celebrate being human with family and friends – what a beautiful idea! There should be more of this! There are several colour festivals across Australia – here are just three.
